I am a NOVA native. I attended Franconia and Hayfield. I tried out for basketball my sophomore year but got cut. Months later, after a man on a pickup basketball court shared the gospel with me, I discovered & understood Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior, and God began to change me. While I didn't try out for any other sports at Hayfield, because of God I was growing in confidence and maturity. After Hayfield I went to NVCC, worked, and played intramural basketball. I then transferred to Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX and would earn a BS in psychology, and a minor in communications. I was very involved as a student: writing for the school newspaper, being involved in a Christian drama team named Love Company, participating in student mission trips to Toronto, and Nuevo Laredo, helping with new student orientation, playing one year of college basketball. During the Summers I worked as a youth minister and camp counselor.
During college I met my future wife Heather, an education major and All American cheerleader.
After college I went straight into youth ministry, and also coached JV basketball for the university for 1 season, as well as substitute school teaching.
2 weeks before our wedding, in 2003, I secured a youth ministry job back in Northern Virginia. Then in December of 2006 I began my work with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, first part time, then later full time.
Heather worked for FCPS as an elementary teacher for 19 years before starting her own learning center. We have 3 children: Micah, Caleb and India.
I have seen the connection and platform that sports can provide. Sport in and of itself is not inherently good or bad, and it can become an idol and point of frustration and hurt, so I strive to help people discover their imago Dei while in sport, and for coaches & athletes to find His peace, love, and joy, and whatever they do, to do it for His glory.

Lara played field hockey and lacrosse at The Tatnall School in Wilmington, DE. She continued her lacrosse career at McDaniel College where she was captain of her team for 2 years. During her FCA lacrosse internship she coached their club teams and camps.
Lara was introduced to FCA at McDaniel College in Westminster Maryland. During the summer of 2019 she went on a trip to Lake Placid, New York with FCA lacrosse where she began to grow a passion for the ministry. After her experience with FCA in Lake Placid, God began opening doors for leadership opportunities within FCA. Lara lead the McDaniel FCA huddle her junior and senior year of college and interned with FCA Lacrosse in the summer of 2021. These experiences helped to confirm her calling to join FCA staff full-time.
